Eye tests

We will ask you why you are visiting

Askew Eyewear will always ask you about your visit. It might be a routine visit, or you might be getting tested because of an eye condition or for occupational reasons. We will also ask if you have any family history of eye diseases.

We check your outer eye

We shine a band of light onto your eye and we look at the outer surface to see if it is in good health.

We check your inner eye

We shine a bright light into your eye and examine the inner parts of your eye. We might ask you to move your eyes around during this procedure.

During this we will check that the muscles that control your eye movements are working properly.

Can you see the letters?

We use an illuminated chart with different sized letters on it during our tests.

Do you need glasses?

We then test your eyesight very thorough with a special pair of spectacles that hold different lenses.Do I need extra tests as part of my eye test?

We may ask you to have further tests:

• If you over 40 years old as you carry a higher risk of glaucoma.
• If you are diabetic.
